A two-day offsite meeting with 20 senior managers from KfW banking group is definitely a commitment to innovation! KfW's initial idea was to react to the results of a recent employee survey in a new and innovative way. After intense planning, a concept for a two-day workshop was developed and conducted in late October.
During the two days, four teams worked on a predefined problem statement taking into account various perspectives and points of view. Participants worked through all phases of a typical design thinking project and even iterated on their results. In addition to dedicated team work in small groups, the participants also regularly presented their results in front of all other teams and collected valuable feedback. This procedure not only provided a good overview of the work done in the teams but also a positive dynamic within the group as a whole. In order to promote the realization of the ideas, different types of prototypes were used - including the playful construction of lego ducks, which brought forth a great variety of brick animals!
Most noteworthy and an essential success factor for the convincing workshop results was the engagement and open-mindedness of the KfW managers with regard to learning about a new agile method. The participants' huge enthusiasm resulted in talks about possible next steps and a possible cooperation to implement the ideas. We are looking forward to an ongoing collaboration in 2018!
